Let innocents bathe in sweet bright spring
And laze forever in luxurious summer
I drink arm in arm with autumn
With full knowledge of impending weather war
We don our fanciest frocks and laugh
Spread our colorful tail feathers in defiance
Come, bleak winter, and wage your worst
You shall not cow us
Our hearts are strong

I like how all of the seasons play a part in your poem. Beautifully written 🙂

Lovely descriptive language. Really enjoyed that – especially looking out the window at the rain today!

A fabulous poem, Joy, and such beautiful language. It’s so fitting for the setting of your book (whether this poem is used in it or not!).

Thanks Millie — that’s three “lovely/beautiful’s” in a row, I think maybe I’m onto something. 🙂 This isn’t an especially “Eneana” piece; I didn’t link it to a specific culture or religion or belief. But I wanted it to be Eneana-compatible, at least.

I realise that, but it sounds very like the wonderful poetry you’ve been writing for your book. You do write this type of poetry so beautifully, Joy.

Aw, thanks! I was leaning toward a more formal or archaic language, so I think that’s why it seems to fit in with the world a bit more.

I love this. Especially the last part: Come, bleak winter, and wage your worst You shall not cow us
Our hearts are strong — makes me want to go adventuring (in a good book). Winter is coming. 😀

Adventuring in a good book is about as much as I’m up for, too. Thanks for reading, Gabi, glad you enjoyed it!

Nice poem. I like the last verse – ending with “our hearts are strong.” Lovely. Enjoy your weekend Joy.

Thanks Amanda! I worked through the poem in my head while doing my morning walk, and kept repeating that last part to myself to be sure I wouldn’t forget it. Glad it seems to have worked. And hope you have a great weekend too!
